ELECTRICK CHALLENGE by NISSAN KICKS e-POWER
OVERVIEW
A movie for the "ELEC-TRICK CHALLENGE" project which expresses the electric driving of Nissan's electric vehicle "Nissan Kicks e-POWER" with graphics.
Using a skateboard specially developed for this movie, Ryo Sejiri, a skateboarder who has won the world championship five times, and other skaters who have represented Japan took on the challenge of expressing the powerful driving and dynamism of Nissan Kicks.
By combining dynamic and sharp skating and "light painting", a technique used in digital art, it delivers the excitement brought by Nissan Kicks e-POWER.
RESPONSIBILITIES
BASSDRUM was in charge of R&D/development and technical direction of the dedicated LED skateboard deck.
‘Graffiti’ is displayed by high speed blinking LEDs during the short dwell time of about 1 second when a skateboard trick is performed in the air.
In order to achieve this, the device must be highly accurate, and the impact of landing on the ground must be taken into account, which is considerably more than might be imagined.
We completed the project through a series of R&D activities, crushing these unknown factors one by one.
