An AI chatbot developed for DOWNTOWN+, a streaming platform offering unlimited access to content from Japan's legendary comedy duo Downtown, including classic comedy performances, brand-new original content, and live-streamed programs.
 
To help respond to inquiries from users less familiar with subscription-based services, the platform introduced an AI-powered support system. In addition to an efficient Inquiry Mode for customer support, it also features a Chat Mode where users can share feedback and requests through casual conversation. By incorporating 15 different emotional expressions, the chatbot delivers a more human and engaging style of communication that reflects the personality of a comedy-focused platform.

We provided both creative and technical direction for the AI chatbot.

On the creative side, we led the development of the chatbot's character, visual interface, and animation design. We defined a communication style that felt approachable and human, incorporating interactions that responded to users' emotions as well as background visuals that changed throughout the day (morning, afternoon, evening, and night), creating an experience that reflected the personality of a comedy-focused platform.

On the technical side, we directed and implemented the front-end that brought these creative concepts to life. We developed interactive UI elements such as animated speech bubbles and carousel menus, along with six background animations representing joy, surprise, sadness, laughter, shock, and sparkling effects. These animations responded to the user's emotional state as interpreted by the AI, while the background also changed according to the time of day. We designed and implemented the integration between the front end and back-end, ensuring reliable and seamless communication.
